Today I rode the MRT to Botanic Garden and then walked to my pottery class. The colors in the plants and flowers here are quite beautiful. The flowers are so intricate and I love to just sit and take it all in. I was almost late for my class! The turtles were so cute in the water and sun bathing! And the tree carvings in one area of the park were breathtaking. I am so glad that Singapore has such a beautiful garden that is close enough for me to enjoy. I did walk 5 miles today, but my legs are finally not so sore from all of the walking every day!

Day at Marina Bay, Singapore
We took the MRT (train) down to Marina Bay. We walked around a huge mall that is part of Marina Bay Sands Hotel and Casino. It looks like a huge ship on top of the hotel towers, amazing! We had lunch at a great pizza restaurant and I learned that leeks on pizza are amazingly tasty! Then we went to Au Chocalat for dessert and it was so mouthwatering good! Then we walked over a corkscrew bridge and saw a soccer field called "the float" because it is actually floating in the river! Then we walked over to the Singapore Flyer which is a huge Ferris wheel like the London Eye. It was amazing to see Singapore at such a level! Then we walked through another mall called Millenia Walk and THEN we went to the largest mall in Singapore called Suntec City Mall. It was HUGE and I am sure that we did not see all of it. After walking about five miles, we were ready to head home. We were exhausted but had a wonderful day. One good part about walking so much was that we walked off that chocolate dessert that we had earlier.

Pottery
I have been taking pottery classes and here are my first pieces. The process takes time and you definitely learn patience in the process. I think that they turned out well and Mike took one to work for pens and has one here on his desk at home. I am really enjoying what I am learning and am now concentrating on the proper technique. I am so glad that I am having the opportunity to learn this skill!

Shopping at JCube
So Saturday I rode the MRT with Mike to his office because he works too many hours and is too busy! He had to work so I went shopping at one of the many malls, it is called J Cube. It is very nice with a Chili's restaurant inside (almost as good as Lindale) and I was in desperate need for Texas comfort food! I had chicken crispers, yummy! They have a wonderful furniture and accessory store called Franc Franc and although it is expensive, you can usually find something quite nice that is affordable. They also have a cool candy store called sticky where there are different shapes inside each piece. Of course I like the hearts the best! After walking through all 6 levels and watching racing at the skating rink, I decided to go out to the outdoor market. It was quite interesting as they were cooking at many of the places. Now don't get me wrong, Singapore has very very strict regulations from the health department for their food, but it was food that I had never seen before. I am not as adventurous as my children and husband are about trying things that I am not sure of or what part of the animal they came from. I will leave that to them! All in all, it was a good day and I got my six miles of walking in too! We later went over to the home of some friends from church for a bible study. Allen Malone was here on his way to Vietnam and taught the class and also preached on Sunday. He is a wonderful and gifted preacher of God's word and we will pray for his safety and positive outcome while in Vietnam.
I am adjusting to life here and am really enjoying taking day trips all over the city. Today was my pottery class again and I am now to the glazing stage on my pieces. I am learning patience as I try to learn this craft. But I am having a good time as I learn.

Shopping in Singapore
Well there is any type of store here in Singapore! On Orchard street there are numerous malls, three of the largest are right next to each other. They are Wheelock Place, The Ion and Takashimaya. Eac one consists of at least 2 basements of stores and 4 other floors. It is quite easy to get lost but because they are all connected underground by an atria (which also has shops), you just keep walking and you eventually find your way out.i went to Takashimaya yesterday to the Art store. Now I didn't realize that it is a Japenese mall so everything is written in Japanese! It took quite a while to find that store, let me tell you! But it was quite fun looking! It happens to be on the fourth floor, and yes I started in the basement! But it was worth the walk to see all of the amazing stores and food court. Oh and by the way, the food court is as big as our mall in Tyler! So I found my pottery supplies and was on my way, yes I got a little lost but I had given myself plenty of time to get to my pottery class. I am loving my class, we are at the trimming stage and this is very time consuming. Really, I just thought that you made a pot on the wheel, then baked it in a kiln and, tada, you have a pot... But it doesn't work that way I am finding out. The process is very amazing and fun. Two of my pots were at the sanding stage and next time we will glaze them.
I cannot express how much I miss everyone back home but am so grateful to have the opportunity to be here with Mike. Please go out today and do something nuce for someone, it doesn't have to be anything big in your eyes but it just might be something big in someone else's eyes and God will be smiling. Love to all.
