Cable Car Ride in Singapore

We hopped on the MRT and went to Harbourfront on Saturday. We then rode the Cable Car up the hill to the Jewel Box. It is a famous overlook with cool restaurants. It was an amazing view! We then walked a couple of miles around Mount Faber and it was beautiful. It is definitely tropical here but it was very pleasant today. We went to the Henderson Waves which is a famous bridge and it actually looks like waves... Google it! It was a great day spent together. We are really enjoying our time here!

Selangor Pewter Factory at Clark Quay, Singapore

So I found online where you can go to the "school of hard knocks" at a pewter factory... So I took Mike with me and we took off on a new adventure. We took the MRT to Clark Quay which is close to downtown and found the Selangor Pewter Factory. We donned aprons and took our mallets and made a pewter bowl... it was very noisy and quite FUN! Then after shopping there and spending some of Mike's money... we walked to Cinatown and went to an authentic Chinese Pharmacy... Sorry, they would not let us take pictures inside... But I did get a picture of the food area. It was definitely authentic Chinese food. We did a little window shopping at the Chinese mall then went to find lunch at Vivocity (another mall). I needed some American food so we had lunch at Subway, of all places! It isn't Newk's but it had to do! Then we had dessert and tea at a wonderful tart shop in the mall! I am stuffed by this time and desperately needed a nap! So we came home, rested and then took a walk around the neighborhood. Our walking distance today was 5.12 miles! I should sleep well tonight.

The blue flower is one of the many flowers growing wild on the side of the road here. Of course this is a flower paradise... Orchids even grow wild here!

Sentosa Island, Singapore

Well yesterday we went to Sentosa Island. We rode the MR to Vivocity mall - the largest mall in Singapore they say then walked across the "boardwalk" to the island. It is actually a huge theme park with Universal Studios Park, hotels, Cable Cars, Luge, Beach, Butterfly park, Aquarium, Casino, Merlion, Beaches and more! We walked through almost everything but did not see everything, I am sure.

There is a cool Luge that I really want to do, it is self propelled down the hill by you... There is no motor! I will definitely get Barbara on this ride. Also the cable cars we to over the island and across the water to Singapore, we might be able to get Ira on that! We didn't go through the Universal Studios Theme Park, we will wait until Lucas, Carah and Dan come to enjoy that with us! They also have an amazing beach and special areas for kids, which makes me want Tyler and Ethan to be here so I can play in the water places with them! So Ronda and John need to come too! And Penny is always a good sport about coming along and enjoying the sights and she can out-walk us all so she definitely needs to come!
There were cages with lizards and birds, but the Peacocks were just walking around freely. We actually walked almost 7 miles yesterday, and I am really feeling it today! Another day in perpetual summertime! Mike and I are having a great time and are happy that we are together. I just wish that we were close enough for each of the people that we love to come often! Love to all!

May 1st - Labor Day Holiday in Singapore

So today is May first and it is a holiday in Singapore... Labor Day. Mike had most of the day off (he worked at home) so we went out on another adventure. We went to another mall... City Square and you won't believe what they had there! A Dairy Queen, and they even had blizzards there! Now I know that they have everything in Singapore!

Of course we shopped at my favorite store, Daiso, where everything is $2. It is a Japanese dollar store and you can get lots of bargains there. I found some interesting candy and almost bought some Almond Fish but I just could not bear to think about the smell if I did, yuck! So I took a picture!

We then went to "little India" to find Mustafa's which is a 24 hour department store with just about everything you can imagine! It was quite an adventure but they had some marvelous chocolate and teas from this part of the world.

Then we found a beautiful old church with stained glass windows everywhere but it was too dark to take any pictures. Then on to another mall... Raffles place and we walked around there a bit... Prices there were way out of our range... But it was fun to look. Then we hopped aboard the MRT and came home in time to see another beautiful sunset. Great day!
