As we get ready to pack up and head back to Lindale, I realized that I had not taken good pictures of our home at the Mera Saga unit 08-01. We have been so fortunate to have such a wonderful place to live for a year now in the area of Singapore called Holland Village. It was named after a man and not a country as some think. It is actually an area where many expats live because of the amenities here. We live on the top floor in a five bedroom penthouse that has amazing views, a great swimming pool, tennis court, playground, basketball/racquetball court, exercise room, sauna and huge Koi pond. We have an Australian butcher shop across the street with fresh grass fed meat flown in daily. There is also a bake shop where I buy flour, sugar, butter and other baking needs. On this same street are some great restaurants (pizza, Mediterranean, Italian, French) as well as a bistro and an ice cream shop where I have found my favorite ice cream in Singapore - "Salty Mister Brown". It is so yummy. There is also a great shop called Lemon Zest where they have cool kitchen gadgets. Just behind this street is the MRT train station that takes you all over the island. If you walk through the station underground you find some fast food restaurants (Mr. Bean, Deli France, Old Chang Kee)and out the other side, you are at Cold Storage which is the grocery store. There are also two pharmacies here (Watson's and Guardian). Above Cold Storage is a small shopping complex where you can find souvenirs, clothing and unusual quirky items. Around the corner is a bakery called Bread Talk which has fresh pastries daily that are so yummy! There is a camera shop, appliance store Kenny Rogers Restaurant and Subway to the left. There is a good "hawkers" stand where you can buy local food really cheap and just behind that is the wet market. This is where I buy fresh vegetables, fruit and eggs daily. Since we don't have a car here I have to carry everything so it is nice to have things so close. There are lots of restaurants here and on the weekends at night they close off the street and place tables in the street where you can dine and socialize... Quite fun. It has been such a great place to live and we have made many good memories and lifetime friends here but it is time to head back to Texas and see where our next adventure will be!
