Well we have had a great two weeks in Texas but it was too short and went by too fast. I can really tell you that I now know how to appreciate what I have. Home and family are so precious to me and I am really appreciating being from Texas!
We left Texas on Sunday after church from Tyler Pounds Field Airport and headed to Dallas. From there we flew to Los Angeles and had about a four hour layover. The nice part is that since we were flying business class, then we were able to wait in the business lounge. So glad that Mike travels so much and can get us upgrades! At this point I changed my clock to Singapore time... 13 hours ahead. Since I was going to lose a whole day it really didn't matter what time it was! So we finally boarded our flight to Singapore and wow do they have amazing seats on Singapore Airlines! I had my own monitor which offered over 50 shows to watch as well as games to play. After we took off, they offered champagne or juice (you know which one I chose) and then they began feeding us. Appetizer consisted of duck liver (yuck) but it was beautiful on the plate. Then the meal was chicken, rice, salad, roll with butter and choice of beverage. It was definitely not the airplane food I was used to eating! Then dessert was chocolate pudding with raspberry compote! I was so full at this point that sleep was definitely necessary! So the seat turns into a bed for the night and the lights dim and we were able to sleep for as long as we wanted. Now if you know me, you know that I don't sleep for more than four hours at a time... So the flight attendant offered cookies and milk... Yes I was still full but I ate it anyway... So yummy! I watched some more movies and then they fed us again... Breakfast this time with so many choices! Then a couple of hours later... They fed us again. The flight was 17 hours long so I was so stuffed when we finally arrived in Singapore. It was 5am in Singapore on Tuesday and we literally lost 13 hours! Since things in Singapore are so expensive, I had packed 6 bags of food and "stuff" I thought we needed from home. We located our bags quickly, grabbed a taxi and back to the condo we went. Mike got ready and headed to work and I had the task of unpacking all of those bags... What was I thinking! Jet lag and all, I got them unpacked and I sure hope it lasts for five months until be go back home. I did pretty well, went to the grocery, wet market for fruits and veggies and to the butcher for meat and the bake store for flour and sugar and butter. Never again will I take for granted the ability to shop at Walmart and get everything in one place! About 5 pm I hit the "wall" that everyone talks about when referring to jet lag... They say to stay awake and work through it... By 8:30pm I was in bed and asleep and slept until 9am this morning... Definitely not how I sleep but I was exhausted and since I have been seeing a chiropractor in Lindale my back and neck were not bothering me. Thanks to Dr. Dunn at Health Revolution for getting me on a program to heal my nervous system and repair my neck and back! If you are having any issues... Go and see her, she is amazing and affordable. Ok, so back to Singapore... I woke up this morning and began my life here again... Cleaning the house, washing clothes... You know the drill. It is not much different than at home, just different surroundings. As long as I am able to be with Mike, then I am happy. It is hard to be here and feel so isolated at times, but I am glad to have the Internet and Facebook to keep me close to many of you out there! Please keep in touch with me, and keep us in your prayers as I will keep you in mine!
