So we had a visit from friends from home... So much fun to show them the country. They stayed with us for two weeks and I think I wore them out showing them the sights. It was a much needed boost for us since we miss home and our friends and family. Here are a few of the places where we went and the fun times we had together.

Palawan Beach, Singapore
Well today we headed to the beach at Sentosa Island, Singapore. We took the cable car from Harbourfront to Imbiah Station at Sentosa and walked to the beach. At Palawan Beach there is a cable suspension bridge to a small island. This island is the farthermost southern point in continental Asia. It is a beautiful little island with a beautiful beach on one side and ships docked on the other side waiting to come into the harbor. It has an observation tower with actually two towers connected together. What a beautiful place in a wonderful part of the world!

Cable Car Ride to The Jewel Box and Sentosa
Today is actually a holiday here but Mike had to work. He did get home before dark so we decided to take an adventure. I had heard that you could get a "Jewel card" that gives you unlimited rides on the cable cars and Sentosa Express for a year, as well as other discounts. Since nothing like this is ever offered to you here, you really have to search for these special perks! We went to Harbourfront to the ticketing office and filled out a form... The we rode the cable car to the Jewel Box and took our application to that ticketing office where they finished took our picture and finished our card. So for $39 each (or $99 for a family of four) you get unlimited rides for a year as well as discounts at restaurants and shops. A normal one time ticket is almost as much! Since we were at the Jewel Box that sits on top of a beautiful hill overlooking the Harbourfront, and the sun was about to set, we decided to eat supper here. The restaurant is called Aprons and Spuds and it had some of the best food we have had here in Singapore. Try the Steakhouse Fries with six types of cheese and brown gravy... Lip smacking good! For the main course Mike had baked chicken with some type of sauce and I had mushroom linguini in cream sauce with garlic toast... So good! We watched the sun go down over Harbourfront and after our meal we boarded the cable car and went to Sentosa Island. We got there just in time to see the fireworks over the water. Sentosa is beautiful at night and the weather is cooler with no crowds. We rode the Sentosa Express back to Harbourfront and hopped on the MRT back home. We had a great time and now we can take the cable cars anytime we wish.
