High Tea at The Regent Hotel

Today I met with some other expat wives (this term "expat" just sounds so strange to me but this is what we are called if we are not from the country in which we are living) at the Regent Hotel for "high tea." From what I have read, high tea is usually consumed around 2pm and consists of tea and fancy finger type foods and desserts. It is eaten after lunch and before dinner. There are variations of high tea such as "afternoon tea" where one type was for high society people and one was for average working people. Either way, I truly enjoyed the tea, the pastries, and the company. We were together because one of our expat friends is returning to her home in the states. It is sad to see her go, but it is time for her to move into the next chapter of her life. This part is difficult for me, you meet someone and for a few months they are a part of your life... Then their spouse gets transferred somewhere else or they return home. Our lives are touched by many people here but I just wish it was for a longer period of time. But as always, it seems that someone I meet crosses my path again in my life, so I am sure we will see these people again. It was a great afternoon with new friends. I will definitely do this again!
